Interview
Information technology really was a strange one. It began with a phone call past HR to enquire if I was yet interested in the position and if I'd like to schedule an interview. I assumed information technology was an actual interview. It wasn't I was actually scheduling another 10 minute phone call with the same Hr person to tell me near the position. No idea why they couldn't just ask me in the kickoff call, as we both had time. From there I was scheduled to come across with a hiring manager. The phone call was scheduled for 45 minutes. It lasted ten minutes. The person was nervous, and was not able to answer some of my questions about the position (which they were in charge of). They were non prepared at all for the interview. It's always disappointing when you lot are giving up fourth dimension and they can't exercise the same for you. They too took a ridiculously long time to get back to a simple question. They asked for 3 years experience. I had more than 10. The rejection said I didn't take enough experience for the role. The company is growing fast, merely seems to be doing it sloppy.

This was a weird and disappointing feel. The actual interview was fine, just I got the sense that what they were actually looking for and what the job description said weren't aligned. This was a product design position that emphasized "bonus points" for having a marketing background. They mentioned needing someone who could collaborate with the marketing department to create landing pages. Yet 1 of the interviewers kept asking about my ability to practice illustration work. They were extremely costless about my portfolio, which was nice, but came across as disingenuous once they ghosted me. I never received any sort of follow upward, not even to politely let me know they would be moving on. And based on the other review here, that seems to be their go-to move. I would encourage their Recruiting/HR department to be more considerate of the interviewee's time. If you motility someone on from the phone interview stage, please follow up with them. It's disrespectful to leave people hanging like that when they carve out time to speak with your squad. Other than that, the hiring managers I spoke to were very nice and I had a pleasant conversations with them. I just wish that kindness had been more than genuine.

In a discussion- disappointing. Anybody I met throughout the interview process was really cool and they were all super excited about my portfolio and feel. In hindsight I experience a picayune lead on. The procedure itself was and then tedious and time consuming. I interviewed with 12 different people in 8 split up interviews and the recruiter called me now and again to talk. I learned a lot about the position merely going through my portfolio 6/7 times and answering the same questions with different people was a little exhausting. A few weird things: one of the founders of the company asked to see examples of my analogy work, which is odd because I'm a production designer, non an illustrator. Some other person was so impressed by one of the workshops I ran with a old customer that she took a screenshot during our chat.. not cool, but I allow it slide considering I really thought I was going to get an offer. After really consistent advice, the recruiter but sort of fell off the face of the earth. I reached out, she said she would contact me at a particular fourth dimension and simply totally flake. After continued follow up, she finally called me to say they would be going in a different management. I have a feeling that if I wasn't super abrasive about continuing to follow up they would have just ghosted me. All in all, it was really weird to hear such praise well-nigh my work and process and put in so much fourth dimension and energy and non be offered a position or a reason why. If anyone at ZB reads this, I suggest cutting down the interview process and only putting people through all of those meetings if you are serious about hiring them. I will say though, almost everyone was really really cool that I talked to, so at to the lowest degree at that place'south that.
